Recap

So here’s a recap on what’s been happening the last 5 months. So I got married in June, went on my honeymoon, came home & found out 3 weeks later I was pregnant!!! Ahhhh!!! It was something that was sort of planned, we weren’t not trying, but we weren’t exactly being careful either. So low & behold, when I peed on that almighty stick & the second pink line appeared, I wasn’t that shocked. More of a holy crap, is this happening, throw up a little in my mouth kind of feeling. My husband on the other hand, his reaction was a little different. He was in denial, it can’t be, not yet, holy s#%t!!! But once I went to the doctor & got the confirmation, we were all on the same page. This IS it, this IS happening, holy s#%t!!

I had my first ultrasound when I was 8 weeks pregnant, couldn’t really see much. It was more of a little bean, which is now officially it’s nickname. The little bean. I couldn’t believe this tiny life was growing inside me. So amazing! Now please excuse me while I throw up… Just kidding, actually that’s one thing I never experienced this time around, the inevitable morning sickness. Didn’t happen for me, I was pretty lucky. When I was prego with Shayla, I was sick non stop for the first 12 weeks. It was terrible. Like jumping off a city transit bus 2 stops earlier to run into a random coffee shop to barf kind of sickness. It was terrible! So I feel pretty blessed to not have had to go through that a second time around.

The first trimester was a little trying for me as far as keeping up with my regular workout routine. If you’ve read my fitness story, you all know how far I’ve come. I basically went from working out 6 days a week, mostly twice a day to maybe once or twice a week to nothing. My body just couldn’t handle it. I was exhausted, I wanted to sleep all the time & be lazy for once. Something I’m not used to. It really was tough, but I had to listen to my body. I am back up to working out a couple times a week again, so that’s progress. I would like to get back to 3 maybe 4 workouts a week, so we’ll see what happens. I think the important thing is to listen to your body, don’t push yourself & know your limit.

Ultrasound numero 2 – The big 12 week scan. The screening for down syndrome. I was so friggin terrified. I thought for sure something was wrong with my little bean, but what mother doesn’t worry? Of course everything was fine. Here’s the picture we were graced with & the one we officially “came out” to everyone with.

Yay! We were officially able to tell everyone the good news! And everyone was just thrilled for us. It’s such a huge relief when you can tell everyone this big fat secret you’ve been keeping for 12 plus weeks.

So the second trimester… It has proved to be a glorious time as most women put it. My energy levels are up, I feel great, my belly has officially popped & I am now showing off my bump. I’m officially 20w2d, I’m HALFWAY!!! So pumped about that, only 20 more weeks or less to go, hopefully it’s less. I don’t want to feel like this huge waddling hog, that wants to rip her baby out of her, because she can’t stand being pregnant no more. Nope, I want to feel like the woman in the magazine, whose glowing, smiling & ready to squeeze this 8 pound ham from her loins, all while looking like she just did her hair & makeup for a night on the town. Ya right, wishful thinking…

I’m definitely feeling some movements in there, which feel weird & wonderful all at the same time. It really is amazing. A couple weeks ago we had our anatomy scan to make sure all the bean’s bits were in place & where they should be. We couldn’t believe how much the little one had grown since the last ultrasound.

No the picture didn’t come with the cute little hearts all over it, I added those. I’m so crafty like that. Anyway, so isn’t he perfect? Yep, I said he. We didn’t find out at the ultrasound that we were having a baby boy. We actually got the tech to mark it in the report, which was sealed in an envelope & we gave it to my Mom. She was planning a big Gender Reveal party for us, which was so exciting! We invited all our family & friends, had some yummy snacks, which of course I needed to eat more of. So many cupcakes… Mmmmmm…. Oops, sorry. So she had us unwrap a gift that was wrapped in millions of yellow tissue paper, to reveal a cute little blue onesie!

Yay!!! ITS A BOY!!!! Needless to say, my husband predicted it & of course was over the moon. My daughter was so excited too, she always said she wanted a little brother so she could pick on him, haha & me, well…. I was soooo happy too. Having a little boy is definitely going to be new for me, but I’m sure I’m going to enjoy every last moment of it. I can’t wait to meet him!!!

So that’s it for the recap, you officially know what’s happened over the last 5 months, how things have been going for me & that we’re having a little boy!!! Woot woot! I think next week I’ll talk more about my cravings & giving in to them. šŸ™‚
